Rutsiro 0-2 APR FC

APR FC’s four-game winless streak came to an end on Monday as they defeated relegation-threatened side Rutsiro FC 2-0 at Umuganda Stadium.

Forward Ramadhan Niyibizi found the back of the net after 42 minutes to help the military side go the half time break leading the scores as Yannick Bizimana doubles the lead in the 68th minute to guide his team to a much-needed victory that saw them move third on the league table and level on points with Kiyovu (24 points).

APR had not won a game since November 13 when they beat Sunrise 3-2 as they went on to draw four games in a row during their encounters with Kiyovu (2-2), Mukura (0-0), Gasogi United (0-0) and AS Kigali (0-0).

The victory came as a huge boost for the defending champions who are now four points behind table leaders Rayon Sports. The pair resume their rivalry in a clash of titans taking place Saturday, December 17, at Kigali Stadium.

Prior to the derby, the Blues will be looking to bounce back from Sunday’s 3-2 setback against Etincelles while APR wants to build on their confidence from Rutsiro victory and pile more misery on Haringingo and his men and get back to the title race.
