Kepler VC claimed a dominant straight-sets victory over Sport-S in their second match of the Africa Men’s Club Championship

Kepler VC delivered a commanding straight-sets victory over Sport-S in their second match of the African Men’s Club Championship, winning 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-20) at Petit Stade on Friday to register back-to-back wins in the tournament.

The second day of the championship was attended by African Volleyball Confederation president Bouchra Hajij, Minister of Sports Nelly Mukazayire, and Minister of Health Sabin Nsanzimana among other guests.

Kepler set the tone early, controlling the tempo in a competitive opening set despite facing their former first-choice setter, Oboke Marino, now playing for Sport-S. The Rwandan side held their nerve to edge the set 25-22.

They raised their level in the second set, with outside hitter Cedrick Kageruka leading the charge. He combined effectively with middle blocker John Nkurunziza, Libyan right-side hitter Mohammed Radhi, and Patrick Byiringiro as Kepler dominated to take the set 25-17.

The third set followed a similar script, with Kepler maintaining control to seal the match 25-20 and secure their second consecutive victory.

"I think we’re satisfied with the job done. I tried to give each and every member of the squad time to play, and the most important thing is trust, as we still have a long journey ahead,” said head coach Jean Patrick Ndaki after the game.

With all 24 teams having played two matches, three Rwandan clubs—APR VC, Police VC, and Kepler VC—lead their respective groups with six points, level with Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who swept Kenya’s Equity Bank Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16).

In Group A, APR VC overpowered Litto Team in straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-22), while Petrojet defeated Black Rhinos 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-14). Nemo Stars also maintained their strong form, beating Nigeria Customs 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-16).

In Group C, Police VC secured a hard-fought second win, coming from a set down to defeat Morocco’s Faith Union Sport 3-1 (19-25, 28-26, 25-20, 25-21).
