Ambassador Moses Rugema has presented his Letters of Credence to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, formally accrediting him as High Commissioner of Rwanda to the West African country.

The ceremony which was held on Friday, April 24, marks the official commencement of Rugema’s tour of duty in Abuja, where he will represent Rwanda’s interests and work to further strengthen bilateral ties.

He replaces Amb Christophe Bazivamo, who previously served in the role before being elected Secretary General of the ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF Inkotanyi) in December 2025.

Rugema’s posting comes at a time when Rwanda and Nigeria continue to enjoy cordial relations, with cooperation spanning trade, investment, and regional engagement.

His tenure is expected to build on these ties and further deepen collaboration between Kigali and Abuja.
