Rwanda has moved up two places in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Wednesday, April 1.

The national men’s team, Amavubi, rose from 130th to 128th globally, while maintaining 40th position in Africa with 1,126.62 points.

The improvement follows an impressive performance during the FIFA Series friendly matches held in Kigali from March 26–30, where Rwanda secured two convincing victories—defeating Grenada 4–0 and Estonia 2–0.

Amavubi’s progress comes shortly after the return of head coach Stephen Constantine, who took charge of the national team in early March. Notably, Constantine was also in charge when Rwanda achieved its highest-ever FIFA ranking of 64th in March 2015.

Meanwhile, Morocco remains Africa’s top-ranked team and sits eighth globally. Senegal follows in second place on the continent, dropping to 14th in the world rankings from 12th. Nigeria (26th), Algeria (28th), and Egypt (29th) complete Africa’s top five.

On the global stage, France—runners-up at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022—have returned to the top of the rankings for the first time since September 2018.

Back-to-back wins in recent friendlies have seen Les Bleus climb above Spain, now ranked second, and world champions Argentina, who drop to third. The gap between the top three teams remains extremely narrow.
