JEAN CLAUDE Gasigwa is two games away from pocketing the winner’s cash package of US$800 after storming the semi-finals courtesy of a 5-7 6-2 6-4 victory over Kenya’s Gilbert Kibet in the Kampala leg of the ITF/CAT East Africa money circuit.

With the game poised at a set-each for each player on Thursday, heavy down forced the organizers to postpone the match to yesterday morning and Gasigwa who had lost the first set (5-7) before winning the second (6-2) sealed his semi-final slot with a 6-4 victory in the third set.

Gasigwa will now play Dennis Ochieng of Kenya in today’s semi-final. The country’s top seed will be wary of the Kenyan who ousted Dieudonne Habiyambere in the quarter-finals (6-4 6-1).

Meanwhile, Uganda’s tennis ace Duncan Mugabe is favourite to progress to the final in the other semi-final with Francis Rogoi. Mugabe bundled out Rwanda’s Olivier Nkunda 6-3, 7-6 en route the semi final while Rogoi ousted Robert Buyinza in straight sets (6-4 6-3).
