Officers of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Special Operations Force on Friday, March 6, completed a Basic Counter-Terrorism training programme aimed at enhancing their operational readiness.

The 22-week training programme was conducted at the Rwanda Military Academy Gako and brought together officers and other ranks from the special forces.

Maj. Gen. Vincent Nyakarundi, RDF Army Chief of Staff, breifing the graduated officers.

According to the RDF, the course was designed to strengthen the operational capacity of Special Operations personnel by equipping them with advanced tactical knowledge and practical skills needed to address emerging security threats.

The training also focused on strengthening their ability to respond effectively to terrorist incidents and to conduct rescue operations for victims held by terrorist groups.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Vincent Nyakarundi, RDF Army Chief of Staff, who represented the Chief of Defence Staff Gen Mubarakh Muganga. The event was also attended by RDF generals and other senior officers.

Maj Gen Nyakarundi commended the graduates for their discipline and commitment throughout the demanding course, noting that the skills they acquired would play a critical role in future security operations.

He also commended the trainers for their dedication and professionalism in delivering high-quality instruction that continues to strengthen the capabilities of RDF personnel.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Maj. Gen. Vincent Nyakarundi, RDF Army Chief of Staff.
