Gashuji talks up team’s ambitions

NATIONAL boxing coach Gashuji Kananura is happy with what he has seen during the team’s training sessions. The pre-selected 30-man team is currently locked in daily sessions at Amahoro stadium ahead of Sunday’s showdown with DRC and Kananura believes that the team has the mindset to put in a good display over the weekend.

NATIONAL boxing coach Gashuji Kananura is happy with what he has seen during the team’s training sessions.

The pre-selected 30-man team is currently locked in daily sessions at Amahoro stadium ahead of Sunday’s showdown with DRC and Kananura believes that the team has the mindset to put in a good display over the weekend.

"The guys are in good shape and have the right mental attitude. We should expect a good competition this Sunday,” Gashuji, who also doubles as the technical director of the national boxing association (Raba), said.

Some of the boxers in camp include; Maurice Bikorimana 69Kg, Pascal Sibomana 60Kg, Michel Gashumba 57Kg, Theoneste Gakunzi and Selemani Kigabo (64kg), Jean Marie Vienne Nsengiyumva 75Kg, Moustapha Mpakaniye 64Kg, Eric Baributsa 48Kg, Saleh Butoyi 51Kg and Alfred Uwiyeyimana 64Kg among others.

The meet is part of the team’s continuous build-up ahead of the World Youth Championship, set for April 2-10 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
