More than 250 local cyclists, visiting fans, and veteran riders gathered at the Kigali Convention Center (KCC) for a vibrant social ride powered by Amstel, the gold sponsor of the Tour du Rwanda.
The 15-kilometre ride — the second after a similar event in Rubavu — was organised to celebrate the sport and immerse participants in the excitement surrounding the weeklong continental race.

Unlike the professional race, the event emphasised participation, interaction, and enjoyment rather than competition. Cyclists completed one circuit and took part in quiz activities featuring Tour du Rwanda–related questions, including stage distances.
Winners walked away with bicycles provided by Amstel, reinforcing efforts to promote cycling culture and healthy living.
Among the participants was Wil Resing, a Dutch cycling enthusiast who travelled from the Netherlands to take part in the ride. He described the experience as unforgettable.
"I usually come to Rwanda with my wife, who is Rwandan. Last year, I enjoyed the social ride, and coming back to ride along the same route once used by cycling legend Tadej Pogačar before he triumphed at the UCI Road World Championships is very special to me,” he told Times Sport.
Amstel Premium Portfolio Manager Amos Muhunde praised the growing cycling culture strengthened by major international events such as the UCI Road World Championships.
"We are pleased to be among the partners who collaborated to make this social ride possible. We first enjoyed it in Rubavu and now here in Kigali. Our goal is to sustain the cycling legacy left by the UCI event,” he said.
Beyond the social ride, Amstel also organised a closing ceremony ahead of the final stage of the Tour du Rwanda, featuring performances by popular artistes including Bushali, Bwiza, Kenny Sol, and Ruth Joel.
