National carrier RwandAir has suspended flights to the Middle East following escalating hostilities between Iran, Israel and the United States that began on Saturday, February 28.

"Due to the evolving situation in the Middle East, flights WB300/WB303 and WB304/WB305 to and from Doha and Dubai, respectively, have been suspended until further notice,” the airline said in a statement issued Saturday morning.

"The safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available,” it added.

The United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran early Saturday after what the Israeli military described as months of joint planning.

US President Donald Trump described the military campaign as "massive and ongoing,” warned that American lives could be at risk, and urged Iranians to "take over your government.”

He also accused Tehran of attempting to rebuild its nuclear programme following previous US strikes, a claim Iran denies, maintaining that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes.

In response, Iran launched strikes toward Israel and US-linked targets across the region. Explosions were reported in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar.

RwandAir said affected passengers may reschedule their tickets for a later date.
