Bank of Kigali (BK) has revealed that it is in talks with several international credit card suppliers that will allow its client to access services locally with the use of international credit cards.

BK’s Marketing Manager, Januario Mucyo said that the bank is in negotiations with Interbank Cards types like MasterCard and Thomas Cook. Currently BK is among Rwandan banks that allow use of VISA cards to access financial services.

This comes months after the bank embarked on a project to issue Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) VISA cards.
The introduction of these automated cards is expected to minimise queues on the bank’s branches.

A BK top official told Business Times that the bank has embarked on the use of Point of Sale (POS) machines that will allow its client to conduct retail transactions with a use of a BK debit card.

"So far we have 54 machines in the country and the service will only be available for BK’s clients,” Mucyo said.

The POS machines and the services they offer will be availed to clients who don’t want to move around with cash.
