Tusker Project fame 3 winner Alpha Rwirangira has joined Penya Africa.

The soft spoken Alpha on February 4 expected to announce this at a press conference held at Alliance Francaise in Nairobi and thereafter attend a cocktail afternoon to meet and greet the artists and all supporting parties at the same venue.

The group has organized a national Tour branded "The Love is Kenya national tour” which will debut at the museum on the eve of Valentine’s Day on February 13, 2010. Speaking on phone, Alpha confirmed that this will be an all round concert to celebrate our love for one another, for our country, our music and our diversity.

It will be followed by Love is Mathare on February 20, 2010.The dates for the rest of the national tour, which will be headlined by Sauti Sol and Alpha, will be publicized in the coming weeks.

Sauti Sol is Kenya’s first acoustic neosoul sold out band inspired by the choices, consequences and challenges that the youth face and the need to revamp the music industry with a different unique sound that cuts across all age groups.

The Love is Mathare event, to be held at the Mathare 4A (one of the areas that bore the brunt of the 2007-8 post-election violence), aims at continuing the process of healing and reconciliation amongst the inhabitants of Mathare informal settlement scheme.

The concert is part of a bigger initiative organized by Youth Initiatives - Kenya (YIKE) and the Up To You Too Foundation, through its music label, Penya Africa.

Penya Africa is a musical group consisting, Sauti sol, Songstress Dela, Just a Band, Muthoni the Drummer queen, Stan and the newest kid on the block Rwanda’s Alpha Rwirangira.

Penya Africa was founded as a result of long term collaboration between Up To You Too and local musicians and producers. This collaboration kicked off in 2004 when the album Kilio Cha Haki, produced in the Nairobi slums by the Amsterdam famed production team Red Nose District, was released.
