KIDS NEWS : 54 children put out of prison

Last week, the government concluded an exercise that managed to separate 54 children from their mothers in prisons. These children were above the age of 3 years old which is the legal age of separation. The aim of the exercise was to give   these children their rights and freedom.

Last week, the government concluded an exercise that managed to separate 54 children from their mothers in prisons.

These children were above the age of 3 years old which is the legal age of separation. The aim of the exercise was to give   these children their rights and freedom.

In her speech, the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Dr Jeanne d`Arc Mujawamariya said, "these children have to enjoy their share of government benefits like other children out of prison.”

She explained that when their mothers complete their sentence, they will be re-united. The children were taken to seven orphanages across the country.
