JEAN Baptist Kayiranga has threatened to quit as Rayon Sport head coach if the club management does not do something about their administration structures.

Kayiranga, who replaced Raoul Shungu towards the end of last season, says that internal wrangles and persistent failure to pay players’ salaries on time are some of the reasons that could drive him out of the club.

This season, Kayiranga has seen the Blues win four, draw two and lose two of their opening eight fixtures.

Rayon’s recent result was a 1-1 draw against old rivals SC Kiyovu at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium. Papy Gasana scored the team’s goal to take his goal tally to four, one short of top scorers Bokota Labama (APR) and Police’s Roger Tchouassi.

Kayiranga joined Rayon in his second spell towards the end of last season. At the time, the club had parted ways with Shungu over irreconcilable differences. It was a shock to many Rayon fans who viewed Shungu as ‘untouchable’ considering the fact that he was and still is the club’s most successful coach.

While at Rayon, Shungu, who now manages DRC’s first division side AS Vita won four league titles (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2004) and one Cecafa Club Championship (1998) making the Blues one of the most decorated clubs in Rwanda’s football history.

After collecting 14 points, Rayon is in fourth spot on the league table, five adrift of table leaders Etincelles.
