Gicumbi FC came from behind to claim three crucial points after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over AS Kigali at Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday.

Janvier Benedata gave the Citizens an early lead in the 11th minute, but Gicumbi responded quickly, with Kisoro Babangatini leveling the score just eight minutes later.

The match looked destined for a draw until Franklin Onyeabor struck the winning goal in the 89th minute to secure a dramatic late triumph for Gicumbi.

The victory lifts Gicumbi to ninth place with 12 points, having recorded three wins, three draws, and four losses so far this season.

Meanwhile, struggling AS Kigali remains in 13th place with nine points from two wins, three draws, and six defeats.

Gicumbi will next face Mukura VS on December 14.
