Rwanda’s football body, Ferwafa has not yet utilized the screen for commercial purposes.

The Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said that the sole reason why they have not utilized the screen for any purposes is because they have not secured any sponsor to back the national football league such as to enable the federations’ activities to be branded on the screen.

"We could use the screen for commercial purposes in future but at the moment we are yet to consider using the screen. If we had anybody sponsoring the national football league, we could be benefiting from the screen but at the mean time, nothing has ever been advertised through the screens”, Kalisa said.

The federation is proving to be sluggish in taking up some responsibilities. Just like in the just concluded 2010 World/Africa Nations’ Cup qualifiers, they had up to 12metres to advertise their activities.

But the space was not used for commercial purposes in each qualifier played in Kigali. When asked, Kalisa said that "since the sponsorship rights were given to "Sport 5” Telecom Agency, we sought Rwandan companies to advertise their products but the rates were too expensive for them”.

It’s reported that Sport 5 charged $10,000 for each advert to be ran on each qualifier played at home.

It’s only Kobil Petrol Company which once managed to occupy the space with its own banners placed in the stipulated space during the second round qualifying campaign.

Sport 5 Telecom Agency is the only company responsible for broadcasting rights of the 2010 African Nations Cup to be held in Angola.
