Gisozi memorial centre has embarked on a campaign of helping renovate some houses owned by widows of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The centre has so far used over Rwf2.5 million in the renovation of three houses for the widows.

Olive Mukanyamurasa, the Social Affairs Manager at Kigali memorial centre said the exercise aims at giving these widows decent homes.

One of the beneficiaries, Jacqueline Kagirimpundu a mother of four children, approached the memorial centre asking for help in renovating her house that didn’t have windows and was leaking.

"I can’t believe that I’m going to live in a house that has cement, a ceiling and windows. I was living like an animal,” said Kagirimpundu.

Kagirimpundu’s house is one of 118 houses built in Kinyinya for the genocide survivors by FARG.
