Army and Defence Spokesperson Maj. Jill Rutaremara said that the army is on the alert even during the festive season to ensure security for the nation.

"Even in such times of celebrations, work goes on  since we know that there are those who would like to take advantage of this period and show that there is insecurity,” Maj. Rutaremara told Sunday Times on phone.

"The festive period is not a time for people in the army to celebrate and forget our defence work – we continue to make sure that the country’s is safe from any external aggression.”
