Rwandan Youth have been urged to engage in voluntary work by helping vulnerable people as well as contribute towards national development.

The call was made mid this week by Felicien Kagisha, Gasabo district chairman of Red Cross Rwanda (RCR) at a closing ceremony of a three day National Youth Camp which took place at Bumbogo in Gasabo district.

"To ensure that vulnerable people are helped and working towards national development, the youth should effectively and collectively engage in voluntary services,” Kagisha said.

The Youth Camp attracted 120 Red Cross volunteers from the 30 districts. They took part in various activities at the site where RCR is constructing 60 houses for vulnerable children in Gasabo district.

The activities included brick making--where over 200 bricks were made, planting of 100 avocado trees and clearing areas where more houses are to be constructed.
