Richard Nick Ngendahayo is preparing for a homecoming concert which will mark a long-awaited reunion with his Rwandan audience after 15 years in the United States.
The concert, dubbed Niwe Healing Concert, was initially scheduled to take place in August but Fill the Gap, the events firm organising the concert, pushed it to November 29 at BK Arena due to ‘overwhelming’ requests from the singer’s fans who had been pushing for change in dates.
Ngendahayo has been off the gospel music spotlight for more than 15 years to the point that a big part of his music audience thought he had quit music.
However, he said he was only waiting for "God’s timing” to return to the stage no matter how long it had to take.
"Nothing can beat God’s timing,” Ngendahayo told The New Times.
He said he named the concert after his iconic song "Niwe” because it stands for more than an album.
"It became a legacy of hope and transformation that still defines who God Is in people’s lives,” he explained.
Although Ngendahayo hadn’t not been as active in music since he left for the United States, his music never vanished as worshipers kept singing them is church services.
Yes, the singer’s music stayed in his absence but November 29 is undoubtedly the day his audience is waiting for as they look forward to seeing him performing live after a long time.
On the other side, it’s a performance that the singer admitted that he misses the most.
"Nothing compares to Worshipping The Lord with my home audience. Expect a night of heartfelt praise and life changing moments,” he said.
"I believe this concert will be unique, as countless lives transformed since the Niwe album’s release will now come together in one powerful moment.”
Ngendahayo has released couple of songs from his third album, a project that he hopes will awaken his loyal fanbase in Rwanda and beyond. The whole album will be out before his concert.
He hopes the new album will mark a "journey of healing, faith, and revival.”
Meanwhile, gospel singer and TV presenter Tracy Agasaro will be the official MC of the concert whose entrance tickets are already available via www.ticqet.rw at Rwf 5,000 for upper seatings, Rwf 10,000 for standard lower bowl, Rwf 15,000 (end zone), Rwf 20,000 (Gold) and Rwf 25,000 (Diamond) while platinum tickets go for Rwf 30,000.
