After a successful show in Kampala on October 12, Uganda deejay DJ Spinny will take his decks to Kigali where he is expected to stage another show in celebration of his decade-long journey in music, The New Times has learnt.

The event, dubbed ‘Spinny and Friends,’ which is widely regarded as arguably the best music event in Uganda this year, attracted hundreds of music fans from Rwanda, all of whom gathered at Mestil Gardens to witness performances.

The show featured a long lineup of DJs, including Lil Stunner, Selector Jay, DJ Bryan, Vanss, and Kash Pro, alongside South African guests Jazzworx and Thuluthela, whose viral hits "Isaka (6 am)," "Tholukuthi," and "Bengicela" who are currently among the most trending house music songs globally.

The New Times understands that the renowned DJ will also mark 10 years behind the decks with another big show scheduled to take place in Kigali on December 27.

"After seeing how much influence his music has made over the last ten years both in Rwanda and Uganda, Spinny and the team decided to throw a second edition, but this time in his home country, Rwanda,” a trusted source told The New Times.

The venue, ticket prices, and more information about the event will be communicated soon, the source added.

Born Joseph Kaliisa, DJ Spinny is famous for many things, but most notably for appearing on Hotlist Africa’s list of the continent’s top DJs alongside heavy hitters such as DJ Neptune, DJ Spinnal, and DJ Maphorisa.

The DJ, who is also credited with introducing silent disco parties, has for a long time performed on some of the biggest stages in Rwanda, including The Ben’s mega concert on New Year’s this year and several Blackout shows, among many others.
