KIGALI - A final report on funds collected under the .One Dollar Campaign. is expected to be released today in the Diaspora convention taking place in Kigali.

According to the Director of the Rwanda Diaspora Directorate, Robert Masozera, a final report is expected to be compiled from a closed session of the convention today.

"There will be a report on the total funds collected and handing over the funds to the project’s permanent secretariat,” said Masozera.

The One Dollar Campaign Permanent Secretariat is made up of a Project Manager, an Auditor and an Accountant.

Initially, the government had planned to lay a foundation during the National Diaspora Convention, but according to Masozera, latest developments have made the government forward the practice and instead come up with the final report.

The idea of collecting funds that will facilitate the construction of a multi-million complex for homeless orphans of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi was mooted in last year's Diaspora Convention.

Every year Rwanda holds this convention that brings together Rwandans living in the Diaspora to discuss a cross-section of issues related to national development.

The campaign that has lasted for months was aimed at collecting Rwf 1.5billion intended for the construction of the state-of-the-art complex that is set to be put up in Kagugu, Gasabo district.

Seven blocks will be constructed to accommodate about 600 homeless students, all orphans of the Genocide.
