The people of Rwanda demand a mea culpa from the Pope

Editor,

The Pope of Rome takes plenty for granted as regards to Africans and Rwandan people in particular. Funny enough, seeking forgiveness is a Christian cardinal rule, but it looks as though it does not apply to the popes of Rome, Jesus Christ’s ‘Vicars on Earth’!

The Roman Catholic Church has wronged the Rwandan nation but the Pope has never, like the US President and the Belgian Prime Minister, cared to apologize and seek forgiveness from Rwandans.

Pope Benedict XVI ought to say his ‘mea culpa’ to Rwandans and thus redeem all his predecessors, especially Pope John Paul II who died before seeking forgiveness from Rwandans.

Lots of Rwandan Catholics have quit the Roman Catholic Church en masse precisely because ‘their’ church showed its real face, a face of death and not one of redemption and love
