RWAMAGANA – An official of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) has urged political party leaders in the country to sensitise residents to fully participate in next year’s elections, saying it is their "obligation”.

"Voting is part of our duty as citizens to preserve our freedom for future generations,” Frank Rwigamba Kayiranga, an official in charge of the Eastern Province said.

He was meeting members of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) and Partie Démocrate Centriste (PDC) in Rwamagana district.

The two parties were holding their general assemblies.
Addressing the two political parties, Kayiranga noted that people should be aware of their roles and obligations during polls.

"People must know that voting registration is a must for all eligible Rwandans. People have got to take their civic responsibilities more seriously,” he added, stressing the need for free and fair elections.
