England’s Harry Hudson claimed gold in the men’s under-18 race at the UCI World Cycling Championships, completing the 119.3km course in 2 hours, 55 minutes and 19 seconds.

Hudson launched a daring solo attack with just under three laps remaining and rode alone for the final 36km. He held off the chasing group by 16 seconds to secure his first rainbow jersey.

France’s Johan Blanc finished second, while Poland’s Jan Michal Jackowiak took third.

Rwanda’s Moise Ntirenganya also competed in the juniors’ category, finishing 66th, 14 minutes and 13 seconds behind Hudson.

Meanwhile, 75 riders, including Rwanda’s Jackson Nkurikiyinka, did not finish Friday’s race.
