APR have revitalized their attack by signing Malawi’s lethal striker Chiukepo Msowoya from Mozambique’s top-division side Liga Desportivo Musulmania.

According to the club’s Secretary General Adolph Kalisa, the striker has joined on a two-season deal.

"He has joined on a two-year deal. He is a proven striker with plenty of experience,” Kalisa said.

"He is a big plus to the team as it prepares for the African Champions League.”

Msowoya attracted APR’s attention following his superb performance for Malawi’s Flames in the just ended World/ Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.

Msowoya netted four goals to help Malawi qualify for next year’s Africa Nations Cup in Angola. He scored the decisive goal which helped Malawi qualify for their second CAN at the expense of seasoned DRC.

Many Rwandans will also remember him for scoring a brace during one of Amavubi’s trial games back in September.

Initially, the Malawian had been tipped to join one of Egypt’s top sides Petroject United but APR acted fast to snatch him.

Although transfer details remain hush-hush, Petroject United was offering him Rwf28.5m.

The 21-year-old started his playing career at Kradd. In 2006, he joined Escom (Malawi) before moving to Mozambique’s Liga Desportivo Musulmania last season.

APR, who are gunning for their 11th league title are also said to be tracking DRC’s Eric Bokanga. The striker currently plays for Raoul Shungu’s AS Vita.
