Stability in Africa is important and Rwanda is doing a good job in Darfur.

Editor,

On Tuesday, I was pleased with the return of our Peacekeepers from Darfur. After their hard work, they deserve a rest and time to enjoy their lives with their families during this festive season.

Darfur has been unstable for a while and it is relieving to know that Rwanda’s very own are taking part in restoring peace.

The fact that they were the first country in the world to respond to the Darfur call almost when every country in the world was not willing to come in, spells courage.

Learning from Rwanda’s 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, it was unrealistic for the world to look on and give a blind eye to Darfur. The first step taken by Rwanda, despite international support only made the world realize that the genocide in Darfur could no longer be ignored.

Rwanda’s peacekeepers are playing their part and should be emulated by other countries on the continent that look forward towards achieving a conflict free Africa.
