Al Ahli Tripoli 91-82 Flamengo

Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli became just the first African club to finish on the podium of the FIBA intercontinental Cup after beating Brazil’s Flamengo 91-82 on Sunday, September 21.

The 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) champions represented Africa at the showpiece which brings together top clubs from various continents

Al Ahli went back-and-forth with Brazil’s Flamengo in the Third-Place Game, erasing a 10-point deficit, turning it into a five-point surplus, only to see it evaporate again and go down the wire.

In the closing minutes, coach Mohamed Elkerdany went to Jean-Jacques Boissy, and the guard delivered, hitting a big three-pointer to make it a five-point game with just under two minutes to play.

It was enough to break Flamengo&039;s resistance and win the game 91-82.

Al Ahli Tripoli had only five scorers on the day, but all of them scored 16 or more.

Makur Maker (11 rebounds) and Ivan Almeida scored 20 points each, Ismael Romero had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Boissy also scored 17, while Marcos Knight finished with 16 and 9 rebounds.

Flamengo were on fire from outside the arc early on, but could not buy a bucket when it mattered most.

Gui Deodato and Markeith Cummings had 14 points apiece, Alexey Borges collected 13 with 7 assists, Wesley Ferreira and Alex Negrete combined for 21 off the bench.
