Rwandan artists scoop awards

A range of Rwanda artists on Friday walked home with awards recognizing their talent over the last one year. The event, Rwanda Art Awards was put together by Aimable Kubana. He issued out awards for various categories - afrobeat, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and gospel. Fans voted online and through call in radios shows.

A range of Rwanda artists on Friday walked home with awards recognizing their talent over the last one year.

The event, Rwanda Art Awards was put together by Aimable Kubana.

He issued out awards for various categories - afrobeat, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and gospel. Fans voted online and through call in radios shows.

The venue of the event, Petite Stade, Remera was packed to capacity by Rwandans from all walks of life.

The winners also walked away with trophies, hotel nights and return flights courtesy of Rwandair. Other sponsors included Radio 10, Contact FM, Magic Graphics, City Radio and Zebra Country Tours.

Miss JoJo - best album (female)
Shanel – best female R&B artist
K8 - best male Hip-hop album
Diplomat - best rap artist
Tom Close - best male Hip hop artist.
Mani Martin - best gospel artist
The Brothers – best band
Kitoko – best afrobeat artist
Lil G – Best young artist
