With less than a week to go, riders from different countries on Sunday, September 14, tested the routes that will be used during the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali.
The cycling event, scheduled for September 21-28, will be the taking place on African soil for the first time since its inception in 1921.
The simulation exercise coincided with the bomonthly Kigali Car-Free Day.
During the exercise, riders took off from their training base in Bugesera and headed to the Kigali Convention Centre, passing through Nyanza–Sonatubes–Rwandex–Sopetrade–Mediheal–Ombudsman’s Office.
This section of the course forms part of the itinerary for the first four days of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, when riders will contest on individual time trials.

Elite riders, juniors. and both men’s and women’s under-23 categories will bypass some sections of this route as part of the itinerary.
The first simulation, on August 24, covered the Sonatubes–Kicukiro Center Road between the traffic lights near Simba Supermarket. The second simulation, held on September 4, ran from Onatracom back to ’40’ in Nyamirambo.
