Sixty Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from Rwanda are participating in the Eat African Community (EAC) Jua Kali and Nguvu Kazi exhibition taking place in Dar-al-Salaam.

The exhibition, which has attracted 1,000 firms, is an annual event for SMEs.

Organisers said that the quality of items being exhibited has improved ever since the event was introduced in 1999.
Last year’s exhibition which was held in Kigali attracted about 900 exhibitors from the five member States of the EAC.

Ephraim Karangwa, PSF’s Promotion and Fair Manager said the exhibition, which is expected to end today, has helped SMEs to promote their products and services.

"It has also helped them to network,” he said. 
A mini-exhibition of the event involving 100 exhibitors was last week held in Arusha as part of the EAC 10th anniversary. The Jua Kali - Nguvu Kazi exhibitions involve micro and small enterprises (MSEs) from the five EAC member states to display their items.

The exhibition have been organised by the EAC and the confederation of informal sector organisations and the host government.

Next year, the EAC is set launch the Jua Kali and Nguvu Kazi exhibition manual that will among other things set the standards of the quality of the items to be exhibited and EAC governments will address problems encountered by SMEs.
