Afrobeats icon and music-business visionary Tosin "Mr Eazi” Ajibade has married his longtime partner, Nigerian actress Temi Otedola, the couple officially announced.
The wedding took place across three countries and three months, beginning with a civil ceremony in Monaco in May, followed by a traditional Yoruba wedding ceremony in July at the Otedola family home in Dubai and, finally, a white wedding in August at the couple’s favorite getaway destination: Reykjavik, Iceland. Eazi and Temi revealed the details of the wedding in an exclusive feature with Vogue featuring photography by Jose Villa.
Nigerian music legend King Sunny Ade, R&B superstar John Legend, DJ/producer Michael Brun, French pianist and composer Sofiane Pamart, and DJ Edu—Eazi’s partner in dance-music project Choplife Sound system—were among the performers who the couple tapped to soundtrack the celebrations, with Legend serenading the couple with "All of Me” during their first dance at their Iceland reception. For the three weddings, Mr Eazi was styled by Jason Rembert and Temi was styled by Carrie Goldberg.
The celebrations commenced on May 9 with an official ceremony at the Mairie de Monaco town hall in Monte Carlo, with the couple appearing before just two witnesses. The date carried solemn weight, chosen to honor what would have been the 61st birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother, Ifeoma Ajibade, who passed away just two months prior.
After the paperwork was signed, they retired for champagne at Villa La Vigie, Karl Lagerfeld’s home in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, and dined at the Hôtel de Paris, overlooking the glittering casino square.
Two months later, on July 5, the couple held a traditional Yoruba wedding ceremony at the Otedola family home in Dubai, an intimate affair with fewer than 100 guests, which included music producer Diplo, Ghanaian music star King Promise, and businessman Aliko Dangote.
Temi, a fashion blogger prior to branching out into acting with the 2020 Netflix film Citation, had an extensive bridal trousseau of four outfits respectively made by Zac Posen, Miss Sohee, Lisa Folawiyo, and Oscar de la Renta. Eazi came out to the beat of drummers in a Lisa Folawiyo Studio custom look and a cane by Tom Talmon Studio. Guests wore burgundy aso ebi, and enjoyed Nigerian dishes including pounded yam and egusi from Dubai’s Kiza Restaurant.
Foluso Ogunjimi, known as Alaga Shokoyokoto, officiated over the ceremony, her voice weaving Yoruba prayers and humor into the evening, which continued with a reception in Temi’s family backyard.
The evening climaxed with a performance by Nigeria’s greatest living music legend King Sunny Adé, backed by his full band, while DJ Edu of Choplife Soundsystem transformed the night into an Afrobeats and amapiano party with an inspired set of his own. "Having Sunny Adé there was like having history itself blessing our union,” Temi said.
The trilogy’s final act unfolded on August 8 in Iceland, where Pastor Tash Kusi blessed the marriage before just under 100 guests at Reykjavik’s historic Hallgrímskirkja Cathedral, with Temi walking down the aisle in an Audrey Hepburn-inspired, couture Fendi gown, and Eazi in head-to-toe Yves Saint Laurent.
The reception that followed at Kleif Farm, just outside Reykjavik in Mosfellsbær, nearly didn’t follow: A windstorm days earlier tore the roof off the bespoke glass tent.
Rebuilt in 48 hours, the tent became a concert hall, with performances that transformed the night into a global stage. Sofiane Pamart, the French pianist known for bridging classical and contemporary, played beneath the glass ceiling as dusk fell, followed by the surprise appearance of John Legend.
Performing at a grand piano above a misty pond, Legend sang "Save Room” as Temi shared her father–daughter dance with father Femi Otedola, and then "All of Me” during the couple’s first dance.
Following the close of the reception at 1 a.m, the rhythm shifted to the Edition Hotel, where the couple hosted Club TT (for Tosin & Temi)—an after party where Choplife Sound system played until 4:30 a.m., blurring the line between wedding and festival. The weekend ended the following day at Hamsvik Hot Springs, where the earth itself, alongside a DJ set by Michael Brun, provided the final soundtrack. "Music was the thread,” Mr Eazi said.
"From the silence of Monaco, to King Sunny Ade in Dubai, to John Legend in Iceland — each act had its own soundtrack, just like our relationship.”
