Former Kepler basketball club point guard Chad Bowie has been cleared to play for Ugandan Side City Oilers, which he joined in June, after a FIBA tribunal ruled that he is eligible.

Bowie, a then key player for Kepler, left for City Oilers earlier this year after two years of strong contributions to the team. He was particularly instrumental during the 2023/2024 regular season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 410 points and earning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Bowie, the son of former Orlando Magic shooting guard Anthony Lee Bowie, was recognized as the MVP of the 2023/2024 Rwandan regular season.

After joining the Oilers, Bowie was initially not allowed to play due to transfer conditions, but a ruling on September 8 confirmed his eligibility.

The case challenging his eligibility had been filed by rival City Oilers teams, but the tribunal ruled that the appeals lacked sufficient evidence.
