Rwanda Air Force chief hosts African counterparts in Kigali

Rwanda Air Force Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Jean-Jacques Mupenzi, on Thursday hosted Air Force Chiefs of Staff from six African countries on the sidelines of the 9th edition of the Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition taking place in Kigali.

The meeting brought together Maj Gen Hakim Nasredine, Algeria’s Air Force Chief of Staff; Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, Nigeria’s Air Force Chief of Staff; Maj Gen Amhamed Asifaw Gojel, Libya’s Air Force Chief of Staff; Maj Gen Mohamed Boide, Mauritania’s Air Force Chief of Staff; Maj Gen Amr Attia Ahmed Regab, Egypt’s Deputy Air Force Chief of Staff; and Brig Gen Tesfay Legese Diana, Ethiopia’s Deputy Air Force Chief of Staff.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, discussions focused on enhancing inter-force cooperation, joint training initiatives, and strengthening African military brotherhood.

The 9th edition of the Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition, which runs from September 4–5 at Kigali Convention Centre, has brought together more than 2,000 delegates including regulators, airline executives, manufacturers, and service providers.

This year’s summit is being held under the theme "Collaborating to Unlock Africa’s Growth” and is focusing on aviation infrastructure development, sustainability, regulatory reform, and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).

The event is also showcasing innovation in advanced air mobility, including air taxi network plans by Ethiopian Airlines in collaboration with Archer Aviation.
