Floods destroy Akagera maize plantations

Over 500 hectares of maize plantations in Bugesera district near River Akagera have been destroyed by floods as a result of the weekend’s heavy rains.

According to the vice Mayor in charge of economic planning, the district is planning to build perimeter walls to stop the river’s waters from flooding into the plantations.

Kamonyi motoricycle operators visit Gisozi Memorial Site

A group of motorcycle taxi operators from Kamonyi district in the Southern Province, Sunday visited Gisozi Memorial Site to get firsthand information on the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.

Jean Baptiste Ndikubwayezu, the team leader said that it was high time their association learnt about the genocide and its effects on the country. They donated Rwf100, 000 towards the centre.

ATRACO members of RPF meet

Members of the RPF in the Taxi Commuters’ Association (ATRACO), Sunday held a meeting to celebrate the achievements of the association.

Speaking during the event, Ludovic Twahirwa Dodo, the ATRACO president said the association has so far made tremendous improvement in the welfare of the members of the association.

He added that there are 7000 members of the RPF within the association.

Polisi Denis, the deputy Speaker of Parliament who was the guest of honour, briefed the members on the four pillars of RPF and urged them to continue working hard for the development of country.

He also called upon them to prepare for the forthcoming presidential polls.
