APR FC 2-0 Bumamuru
Striker Cheikh Djibril Ouattara and new signing William Togui scored in either half to help APR FC register their first win at the CECAFA Kagame Cup with a 2-0 win over Bumamuru of Burundi on Wednesday, September 3 at KMC Stadium in Tanzania.
The army side traveled to Dar es Salaam with an ambition to win the crown they lost in 2024 to Zambia’s Red Arrows on penalties in the final.
Ouattara netted the first goal inside seven minutes of action, thanks to the assist of Hakim Bugingo before Togui doubled the lead in the 73rd minute to cap off a bright start to the campaign with a win.
APR FC traveled to Tanzania for the competition without eight of their key players who went on international duty for their respective countries at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
They will next face Zanzibar side Mlandege on Saturday, September 6, before concluding their Group B campaign against home side KMC.
