BUGESERA -  Police in Bugesera are searching for a man, Pascal Hitimana who allegedly assaulted  his wife and seriously injured her with a machete in a domestic wrangle.
Jean d’arc Faida, 37, sustained deep cuts on her  left arm and leg.

The incident happened in Rugarama cell, Mareba sector, in Bugesera district. 

According to the victim, the husband who had spent the whole morning drinking local gin started to beat her up immediately after she arrived from working on the family garden. 

"I had gone to the garden, but I decided to go back home to collect an umbrella since it was about to rain. I found him drunk, he beat me and later picked a machete and cut me on my arms and leg,” she said. 

The area executive secretary, Jacques Gashumba, confirmed the incident, saying the man is still on the run. 

Sources from local security organs say that Illicit beer and marijuana have been blamed for most crimes committed in Bugesera and the province in general.
