KAMONYI- Residents of Runda Sector in Kamonyi District have been left in shock after they found the body of a man dumped near Nyabarongo swamp.

Security officials identified the deceased as Jean Claude Nyombano, 25, who had gone missing since Friday October 30.
A security search found Nyombano’s body, on November 1, lying in a ditch near a newly constructed toilet in Runda zone.

Nyombano is believed to have been murdered by his workmates at the Nyabarongo sugar plantation, where he was a casual labourer.

A post-mortem report indicated that the late Nyombano was strangled to death.

Local authorities confirmed that 11 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Sources, who asked not to be named said the deceased told them that he had received death threats and various insults associated to Genocide.

"He informed us but we ignored the claims thinking that it was nothing to be taken seriously.” one of the deceased’s colleagues said.

At his burial ceremony on November 3, Christine Nyirandayisaba, the Sector Executive Secretary, asked residents to always report potential crimes in time.
