Bank of Kigali announced its commitment to supporting the creative industry, which looks to back and develop more products that benefit industry players in a win-win pursuit through the "Nanjye ni BK” initiative.
The announcement was made on July 25, during a press conference for the Uwangabiye album launch by Belgium-based Rwandan artist Lionel Sentore, who is preparing for his debut concert set to take place on July 27, at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.
The event will feature live performances by fellow Gakondo artiste Ruti Joel, Jules Sentore, and the renowned Ishyaka ry’Intore troupe and more that are yet to be disclosed.

"Bank of Kigali is proud to stand alongside Lionel Sentore in recognising and supporting the role artistes play in shaping our national identity,” said Paul Sinanga, Head of Retail at BK.
Sinanga explained that through this partnership, BK is showing that banking isn’t just about numbers, it’s about people. "Whether it’s a young entrepreneur, a salaried person, a woman with a business, a corporation, or a cultural singer like Lionel Sentore, BK wants everyone to feel seen, understood financially and part of something bigger. That’s what Nanjye ni BK means."
"This event is also a signal of what’s to come. BK is currently working on tailored services for creatives helping them build not only their dreams but also their financial future,” he added.

The ‘Uwangabiye’ singer, who was accompanied by Jules Sentore, both grandsons of the late legendary traditional musician Athanase Sentore, said that the album has already been released for some time, but he wanted to perform live for Rwandans who love and appreciate traditional music.
"I have no doubt that most Rwandans are Gakondo enthusiasts. I look forward to entertaining them with many songs that celebrate our heritage and the rich history of our country,” he said.
According to the singer, the album was largely inspired by his fans and the overwhelming response to his song "Uwangabiye,” which gained popularity during the 2024 presidential election rallies. Although the track was released six years ago, it became a massive hit again in 2024.
Currently residing in Belgium, Sentore credited the successful completion and upcoming launch of the album to the support of his fans and music enthusiasts.
The album features 12 tracks, including Umukobwa w’Abeza, Teta, and Uko Bimeze ft. Mike Kayihura, among others, all of which will be performed live at the concert.
