THE national football league has been put on hold to pave way for Amavubi Stars’ preparations ahead of their decisive November 14 African National Cup qualifier against Zambia.
"The league will resume after the Zambia qualifier,” Ferwafa’s CEO Jules Kalisa confirmed.

At the moment, reigning champions APR, Atraco and Etincelles jointly lead the standings with nine points.

Over the weekend, Erik Paske’s APR thrashed Kiyovu 3-0 to consolidate their lead at the top of the table. The army side’s goals were scored by Haruna Niyonzima and new signings Abbas Rassou and Omar Hitimana.

A brace from Hamis Kitagenda and another goal from Donatien Tuyizere also maintained Atraco’s perfect start to the season as the taxi-men edged a hard fighting Police side 3-2.

But the surprise of the season is without doubt newly promoted side Etincelles. The Rubavu-based side piped Mukura to post their third win on the trot.
Bob Kelvin scored the lone goal.

Else where, Rayon Sport had to fight hard before securing a 2-1 win over Marines.

Peter Kagabo and Pappy Gasana scored the goals for the Blues.

AS Kigali lost 0-1 to Electrogaz courtesy of Jimmy Mbaraga’s lone strike while Amagaju were held to a goalless draw by Musanze.
