NGOMA - Two people including a businessman were on Monday killed by armed robbers in Rurenge sector, Ngoma District. Emmanuel Nshimiyimana, a businessman and Everest Ndayambaje another local resident were killed while trying to fight the robbers who tried to break into one of the deceased’s shop, local leaders said.

Emmanuel Nshimiyimana, a businessman and Everest Ndayambaje another local resident were killed while trying to fight the robbers who tried to break into one of the deceased’s shop, local leaders said.
Two other people Jean de Dieu Bizimana and Ntiyotwizeye were seriously wounded and are admitted at Kigali Central University Hospital.
Authorities say five suspects have been arrested and detained at Kibungo Police Station in connection with the incident.
Area residents told The New Times that the incident happened at around 10 pm.
"We were carrying routine night patrol when we encountered the thugs trying to break into a shop. We wanted to foil the robbery and arrest them…but they opened fire using a pistol killing two instantly,” one resident said.
Police said investigations were still ongoing.
