UN peacekeeping chief to visit today

The United Nation’s Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Alain Le Roy is expected in the country today.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Le Roy who will be leading a high-level delegation of the United Nations Mission in DRC (MONUC), is expected to meet with government officials including Foreign Affairs Minister, Rosemary Museminali.

Le Roy, a long time French diplomat currently oversees over 110,000 personnel serving in peace operations around the world.  Rwanda has close to 3500 peacekeepers serving in the war torn Sudanese region of Darfur.

Governor urges residents to farm

Fidele Ndayisaba, the Southern Province, Governor, over the weekend called upon residents of Nyanza district, to use the available opportunity of the rainy season to farm in order to reap highly.

Ndayisaba made the call during the security meeting , which sought to find ways of fighting  rampant theft in the district.

FINA Bank donates to orphans

Over the weekend FINA Bank donated Rwf500, 000 to orphans in Muhanga district, Southern Province, during the official opening of its branch in the district.

Steven Kerry, the Managing Director of the bank said that FINA Bank was committed to provide better services to its clients, as well as supporting the needy community members through corporate social responsibility.
