Today as the world joins together to celebrate the universal children’s day, the Children’s Times team passes on its gratitude to the government of Rwanda, the local leaders, NGO’s and different organisations dealing with children, for protecting and helping them enjoy their rights.

Since 26, July 1990 when the heads of state and the Organization of the African Unity (OAU) adopted the charter on the rights and welfare of the children, Rwanda has been doing its best to make sure that the children in the country enjoy the best of human rights.

However, even with the sensitisation and the implementation of the children’s rights, child abuse has not been completely uprooted. Some people still continue to abuse the rights of children.

There’s still much to do, new strategies should be put forward to fight the abuse done to our children.

The sentisation of children’s rights should also reach as far as schools, orphanages and other children’s gatherings such that children can know their rights, fight for them and in the long run bring an end to the abuse and violation of the children’s rights.
