Over 48 residents of Rubavu district have stormed the district’s offices over letters written to them by the district requesting them to vacate land they have had failed to develop.

According to the district mayor, the complainants were warned earlier enough to prepare themselves.

He added that prior to eviction, they were given time to redevelop their plots of land which they never did.

Mayor urges residents on farming

The Mayor of Bugesera district has called upon the residents of Ntarama cell to put much effort in farming to develop the area.

Jules Rwagaju made the remarks on Tuesday during his visit to Ntarama. He added that though they were largelyaffected during the genocide, it’s high time they stood up and developed themselves. 

FDLR kill 10 in North Kivu

FDLR rebels killed 10 civilians in attacks in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) last week-end, a MONUC spokesman said on Tuesday.

The rebels ambushed civilian vehicles in Rutshuru, in DRC’s eastern province of North Kivu on Sunday.

Later when the blue helmets intervened to repel the rebels, the peacekeepers killed three of the attackers.
