NYAGATARE- Nyagatare District has urged residents to report to health officials any suspected cases of influenza H1N1 commonly known as Swine flue in order to prevent the  spread of the disease.

Cases of swine flu have been reported in Uganda which neighbours Nyagatare. In Kigali, the latest number of victims stood at over 70 as of last week.

The Nyagatre Hospital director, Dr. Benon Karekezi Rukunda, said they are urging residents who are likely to suffer from symptoms like severe stress and high fever to seek treatment.
Dr. Rukunda, however, added that the hospital has no capacity to treat the flu but those found sick will immediately be transferred to Kigali Central Hospital (CHUK).

"We don’t have the capacity to treat the disease but in case of outbreak we have already prepared ourselves to transfer patients found with the disease to Kigali Central Hospital,” he said.
