The National U-20 women team will ruin the wasted chances after losing 2-1 to their Ugandan counterparts in 2011 World Cup qualifier first leg played yesterday at Nakivubo stadium in Kampala.

The Ugandans scored first through Habibu Namalwa in the first half through a penalty kick after defender Clementine Mukamana had handled the ball in the area.

Strikers Yvonne Mukamaliza and Hyacinthe Uwingeneye missed two clear chances in 30th and 42nd minutes respectively and the first half ended with the junior She-Cranes leading 1-0.

Saida Ntagisanimana equalized for the visitors in the 65th minute, through a well taken header from a corner kick, but Ugandan defender Christine Wanyana curled a perfect free-kick in the net in the 83rd minute to send wild cheers among the Ugandan fans.

The two sides will meet in two weeks’ time in Kigali, with the Ugandans holding a slight advantage.

The winner of this tie will progress to play Zambia for the right to take part in the Fifa Under-20 Women World Cup, which will take place in Germany.
