ARUSHA - Horticulture stakeholders want full involvement of agricultural research institutions in the development of the sub sector.

They have also called for upgrading of the Horticulture Training Institute at Tengeru near Arusha so as to render better service to the industry.

The institute, commonly known as HORTI Tengeru, is under the ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives and is the only training centre on horticulture for agricultural extension officers.

Ms Jacquiline Mkindi, Tanzania Horticulture Association (Taha) executive director, says local research institutions have not been adequately involved in the horticultural sub-sector.
