The restructuring programme currently going on at Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has taken a twist with the consultants hired to carry out the programme making several recommendations.

According to some of the recommendations, there will be line divisions based on agriculture, tourism; services and manufacturing.

Information Technology and Human Capital development will also be the other divisions according to the recommendations.

Within the new system suggested by the consultants, for instance, RDB’s Business Operations Services (BOS) which now handles a host of responsibilities will give way to new structures.

In terms of administration, there will be the Chairman of the Board while the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be in charge of the day to day running of the organisation.

The CEO as the head of administration will be supported by a Chief Operating Officer (COO) along with the division heads.

In an exclusive interview with The New Times, the Minister of Trade and Industry Monique Nsanzabaganwa, revealed that the current titles of office holders will remain till the process of restructuring is completed in December.

She also dispelled sacking rumours, saying that no staff of RDB has been fired in the process.

Nsanzabaganwa said that the key thrust of the restructuring of RDB was to reinforce the basic orientation of the organization as a public service agency.

A team of consultants from Singapore which was hired is undertaking this assignment.

The Cabinet recently approved the establishment of a taskforce to oversee the restructuring of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

The taskforce will work alongside RDB senior management to adopt and implement new measures to further improve the institution.

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is an autonomous government agency tasked with fast-tracking economic development in Rwanda.
