A reunion is on the cards for Rwanda’s music super stars The Ben and Meddy who lead the lineup of artistes confirmed to perform at the Rwanda Convention USA event which will take place in Dallas, Texas from July 4-6.
The duo’s reunion promises to mark a strong comeback of the event after six-year hiatus. The last time Rwanda Convention took place was in 2019.
The highly anticipated event returns is expected to bring together Rwandans and friends of Rwanda from around the world for a multi-day celebration.
This year's convention holds a special meaning to both organisers and the participants as it coincides with Rwanda’s Liberation Day ('Kwibohora 31') and U.S. Independence Day, creating a unique and memorable weekend in the heart of Dallas.
According to organisers, the event will focus on youth, entrepreneurship, networking, and cultural showcases. Attendees will experience a dynamic mix of activities designed to inspire, connect, and celebrate Rwandan heritage.
The convention kicks off on Friday, July 4 with last-minute registration and badge pickup, followed by afternoon sports activities. The evening will feature the Hobe Night Gala / Meet & Greet starting at 7 PM, hosted by Afrohub Entertainment, a Phoenix-based Rwandan entertainment company.
The evening of the event will also present networking opportunities and music from Rwandan artists and DJs.
The main event will begin on July 5, with morning sessions dedicated to business exhibitions, networking, and discussions. The primary program will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and cultural showcases and the evening will conclude with music and entertainment featuring Meddy and The Ben who lead a lineup of top Rwanda artistes set to perform at the event.
Masamba Intore has also been confirmed to treat the Rwandan community in the US with his usual culture-inspired music. More artistes who will perform at the event will be communicated in due course, organisers said.
Former showbiz journalist Ernesto Ugeziwe is among the lead persons responsible for the entertainment side of the event.
Ugeziwe, now CEO of Afrohub, told The New Times that "the event is a great opportunity for Rwandans living in the USA to come together and also celebrate Rwanda's liberation day.”
Rwandans and friends of Rwanda from all over the world were invited to participate. Youth, families, entrepreneurs, and professionals can join as attendees, while investors, institutions, and businesses are welcome to join as sponsors or vendors.
All registrations are now open through the convention website: www.rwandaconvention.com
