Talented rapper Angell Mutoni was full of energy and flawless flows at her halftime performance during the Thursday’s second match of Day 4 in the Nile Conference between home side APR and South Africa’s Made By Basketball (MBB) at BK Arena.
The Rwandan champions may have lost the match 88-94 but Angell never disappointed with her powerful rap stage. Her performance was impressive from the moment she stepped on stage till her last minute. She perfectly captured basketball enthusiasts’ attention, and her talent spoke for itself.
Performing her hit tracks like ‘Pull Up,’ a collaboration with Kivumbi King and DJ Toxxyk, and ‘Bounce’ definitely brought the Arena’s hype up.
The Halftime shows take place in every game to at the same time keep basketball enthusiasts entertained and prove that the BAL is more than just a sporting spectacle.
Angell Mutoni became just the fourth artiste to grace the BAL Nile Conference halftime show after Ghanaian Afrobeats singer, King Promise, homegrown music acts Ariel Wayz and KidfromKigali.
With only two game days left, the lineup also includes Kivumbi King and Bruce Melodie who will perform on the final day of the Conference games.
Launched in 2019, through a partnership between the NBA and FIBA, BAL has quickly grown into a premier platform to showcase not only top-tier basketball talent but also create a space for entertainment across the continent.
Often dubbed the "Erykah Badu of Rwandan rap," Angell Mutoni has been a consistent presence in Rwanda’s rap scene since 2014.
Beyond rap, Angell is known for her poetry, freestyles (a skill she demonstrated back in 2014 on the popular TV show "Code250"), and podcasting.
She is a versatile artist who has experimented with various subgenres of rap, including old-school hip-hop, trap, afrobeats, and drill, all while staying true to her unique sounds.
