THE cost of staging the inaugural East African Community (EAC) Hushu championship is estimated to be Rwf35m according to reports from the local Kung-fu federation.

The championship, the first of its kind in the region will draw seven teams; Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Libya, Canada and hosts Rwanda.

The event, to be staged at Amahoro Indoor Stadium from October 13 to 18, will be held in three categories; men, women and a kids’ competition for those aged 12 and below.

The president of the local Kung-fu federation Yassin Mubarak Uramukiwe said that the amount (Rwf35m) would cater for the team’s transport, accommodation and meals.

Uramukiwe is also poised about Rwanda’s chances for silverware.

The championship has been bankrolled by the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc).
